Rather than waiting for ambient conditions to act on a static barrel, Inverse Barreling actively manages the conditions under which spirit and wood interact, completing the same chemical pathways in months, not years.
The result is a spirit with a genuinely complex chemical profile: not an approximation, not a workaround, but the same compounds that make aged whisky taste the way it does.

Independent gas chromatography testing compared a commercially available bourbon/rye aged five years and sold at LCBO against Suburban Lynx after four months of Inverse Barreling.

Bourbon is a legal box. We didn't fit, and we didn't try to.
Bourbon is a legal designation with specific production and aging requirements. Suburban Lynx doesn't use traditional barrel aging: it uses Inverse Barreling. Calling it bourbon would be inaccurate and, in Canada, likely non-compliant.
Suburban Lynx is a caskless corn-based spirit. It stands on its own chemistry, verified independently. The name reflects what it actually is, not what it resembles.
