How Suburban Lynx Is Made

Inverse Barreling.

Suburban Lynx is matured in four months without traditional barrel aging. Inverse Barreling is the VI SIX process behind that result.

The Process

Familiar maturation chemistry. A different route.

Traditional barrel aging develops a spirit through interactions between liquid, wood, oxygen and time. Inverse Barreling controls the conditions behind those changes without using the barrel as the vessel.

For Suburban Lynx, the process begins with a 100% corn base and develops the toffee, vanilla and oak notes at the centre of both the bottled spirit and the Core Highball.

The result is not bourbon and is not marketed as bourbon. It is a Canadian caskless spirit made by a different process.

The Reference Point

Why compare it to bourbon?

Bourbon is the closest familiar reference because its mash must contain at least 51% corn. Suburban Lynx is made from 100% corn, but it uses a different maturation process and belongs to a different category.
